Rick Snyder

Biography

Rick Snyder has appeared in over forty productions on the Steppenwolf stage including, Man From Nebraska and August: Osage County. Other memorable Steppenwolf credits include, Time of Your LifeMolly SweeneyBeauty Queen of Leenane, The Grapes of Wrath, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Picasso at the Lapin Agile and A Walk in the Woods. In addition, he played Ebenezer Scrooge and Bob Cratchit at the Goodman Theatre, and did numerous television appearances including guest starring roles on Crime Story, Early Edition, Chicago Hope, Angel Street, The Untouchables, and Missing Persons. Some of hisfilm credits include The Tuskegee Airmen, The Net, Whiteboys, Soul Survivors, U.S. Marshalls, and The Human Stain. He also directed Bus Stop and Lion in Winter at Writers Theatre (named the best revival of 2008 by the Wall Street Journal), Mauritius at Northlight, Oleanna and Speed the Plow at ATC and Aristocrats at StrawdogTheatre. In 2010, the Wallstreet Journal named Rick as one of the best directors in Chicago. Film credits include

Rick taught in the Film and Video Department at Columbia College and has taught advanced acting classes at Northwestern University, DePaul University, Gustavus Adolphus College and The School at Steppenwolf. Rick will be forever grateful for being a part of Steppenwolf Theatre. He is now retired and lives, with his wife Susan, on a lake in northern Minnesota.
