Synopsis
About the city of Big Shoulders, Chicago poets sing the secrets of our city. Drawing on the inexpressible joys and sorrows of Chicago's rich cultural traditions, poets such as Carl Sandburg, Gwendolyn Brooks and Ed Hirsch express the diverse rhythms and movements of urban life. This performance celebrates Chicago through the voices of its poets, exploring exciting lyrical texts through theater, dance and music, and connecting the cultural heritage of our city to the musical traditions that enrich our lives here - such as blues, jazz, rave, salsa, drumming, and hip-hop. WORDS ON FIRE is an exciting, energetic, engaged performance that celebrates the vibrant, thriving poetry of Chicago.Content Advisory
