Eric Rosen

Eric Rosen is co-founder and Artistic Director of About Face Theatre. Recent About Face projects at Steppenwolf include the book and lyrics of Winesburg, Ohio (Jeff Award, Best Adaptation; Nomination, Best Musical; also featured at the NAMT Festival in New York), dramaturgy and collaboration with Moisés Kaufman for One Arm and the direction of Theater District (Jeff Award, Best New Play). Other About Face writing/directing credits include Dream Boy (Jeff Citation Awards, best production and direction, with five regional productions), Dancer from the Dance, Whitman and Undone. Directing credits include Fascination, Bash, Four and In the Heart of America.Notable collaborations include the development of the Tony Award- and Pulitzer Prize-winning I Am My Own Wife with Moisés Kaufman and Doug Wright at About Face, 33 Variations with Moisés Kaufman at the Sundance Theatre Lab and Mary Zimmerman's Eleven Rooms of Proust. He also staged Zimmerman's Metamorphoses in Australia and on its regional theatre tour, including productions at Hartford Stage, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park and Missouri Rep. Other credits include work at Steppenwolf (the world premiere musical Words on Fire and a one-act version of Winesburg, Ohio), the Goodman Theatre(Edward Albee's Sand Plays), the Prince Music Theatre (Adam Guettel's Myths and Hymns) and the O'Neill Playwrights Conference(Fascination). Mr. Rosen holds a doctorate in Performance Studies from Northwestern University and was an NEA/TCG Directing Fellow.
