Synopsis

Fri 8pm; Sat 2:30pm & 8pm; Sun 2:30pm & 8pm Love Kills is a rock musical about the famous teen spree killer Charlie Starkweather. Starring  ensemble members Jeff Perry as Sheriff Merle and Ora Jones as his wife Gertrude, Kyle Jarrow creates a haunting look at events that transfixed the nation in the late 1950’s. Soaring, driven songs from writer/composer Jarrow theatricalize his astonishingly compassionate take on the two couples whose parallel stories drive the 90-minute show. Since making his mark a few years back with A Very Merry Unauthorized Children’s Scientology Pageant, Obie Award winner Kyle Jarrow has won an ascending reputation as a maker of musical theater and is the leader of the rock band Sky-Pony. He's been called "NYC's hipster playwright" by The New York Times. His most recent theater piece The Wildness debuted this spring in NYC to critical acclaim. Jarrow also wrote the book for SpongeBob the Musical, which opens in Chicago June 7th before transferring to Broadway.

Reviews

"[Jarrow's songs] are loud and bouncy and easy on the ear…the sense of genuine pain…courses through the music.”
-Ben Brantley, The New York Times
