Blending “theatricalized” essays, satirical songs and poetic prose, This is My Moment features the real life story of a woman who has experienced the best life has to offer: a kingpin lover from the past, a jail adventure that tests her faith and a comedy career that teaches the gift of saying, “Yes.”
Dionna Griffin-Irons returns to the stage with longtime collaborator and acclaimed musician Alexander Burke to debut this new work about discovering that the best moments in life are found within those unpredictable moments when everybody is watching.

About the Artists
Dionna Griffin-Irons is delighted to debut her latest new work at Steppenwolf's 1700 Theater, directed by husband, Anthony Irons, a Lookingglass ensemble member. Dionna is an alumnus and adjunct professor at DePaul University and University Illinois Chicago. She is the long-time former Director of Talent inclusion for The Second City where she mentored and produced talent for twenty-one years. She currently teaches and consults with StoryStudio Chicago, Revival Theatre, Groundlings Theatre and is a visiting professor at Yale University. Her social justice work includes training with women survivors of human and drug trafficking of Salt and Light organization and My Brother's Keeper/Obama Foundation. Her nonfiction writing has been published in Rowan/Littlefield’s anthology Women, Writing and Prison.
Anthony Irons is an actor, writer, director, and Ensemble Member of Lookingglass Theatre and Congo Square Theatre. Lookingglass credits include The Steadfast Tin Soldier, Act(s) of God, and Treasure Island. He also wrote and directed Regal Promise, a fantasy video, as part of Lookingglass Theatre’s 50 Wards: A Civic Mosaic project. Anthony has performed with Goodman Theatre, Court Theatre, Shattered Globe, American Theatre Company, Milwaukee Rep and The Second City. He’s received Black Theatre Alliance Awards, African American Arts Alliance, three Jeff Award nominations and a "3 Arts Make a Wave" Award. TV/Film credits include: Chicago Fire, Southside, Empire and Let’s Go to Prison. Anthony is also the creator/director for Hit ‘Em On The Blackside, Congo Square’s YouTube comedy series.
Alexander Burke is an American musician, composer, producer and actor renowned for his versatile contributions across various entertainment mediums. Born and raised in Southern California, Burke's early passion for music led him to become the youngest musical director for The Second City in Chicago. His diverse career includes collaborations with notable artists such as Ryan Gosling's band Dead Man's Bones, performances with the ska band Save Ferris and musical direction for events like the MTV Movie Awards. In addition to his musical endeavors, Burke has ventured into acting and production, showcasing his multifaceted talent in the entertainment industry.
