Synopsis

Set in a 1950's tenement in Brooklyn, New York, Lynn Nottage's Crumbs from the Table of Joy tells the story of an eccentric black family (a recently widowed father and his two teenage daughters) and their search for Father Divine. The family's journey from the south to the north provides entry into unfamiliar worlds of religion, communism and interracial love.
