Mechelle Moe
Mechelle Moe is a founding member of The Hypocrites and currently serves as its managing director. In 2003, Mechelle was awarded both a Joseph Jefferson Citation and After Dark Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of the Young Woman in Sophie Treadwell's Machinal. Most recently, she worked next door at the Steppenwolf Downstairs Theatre understudying Last of the Boys. After 4.48, Mechelle will be reprising her performance of Samuel Beckett's Not I (MCA) and will be appearing as Harper in The Hypocrites production of Angels in America. Previous acting credits include: Pistols For Two (Lifeline, Jeff Nominated-Ensemble), Cheech, or The Chrysler Guys Are in Town (Goodman Theatre’s New Stages Series, Our Town (Writers' Theatre), Captain Raspberry (Factory), The Possessed (Prop), The Killer (Red Orchid), as well as numerous productions with The Hypocrites: The Glass Menagerie (Laura), Arcadia (Thomasina), Rhinoceros (Daisy), The Bald Soprano (Mrs. Martin), Woyzeck (Marie), Action (Lupe), Marat/Sade (Charlotte Corday), The Cherry Orchard (Dunyasha), Curse of the Starving Class (Emma) and Ajax (Edith Hamilton). She works as a teaching artist for the University of Illinois at Chicago in collaboration with the Chicago Public School system at Gallery 37.
