Manual Cinema
Manual Cinema is a collaboration between puppeteers/graphic artists Julia Miller, Drew Dir and Sarah Fornace, with musician/composers Kyle Vegter and Ben Kauffman. Their process combines handmade shadow puppetry, cinematic motifs and live sound manipulation to create immersive theatrical stories. Nationally, they have performed at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Eric Carle Museum, St. Marks NYC and the Tank NYC. Their work has been commissioned by the Logan Square Arts Center, the University of Chicago and eighth blackbird. Manual Cinema is currently ensemble-in-residence at the University of Chicago in the Theater and Performance Studies program. Check out their videos at manualcinema.com.
