Dr. John
Dr. John, formally known by his given name, Mac Rebennack, is one of New Orleans' all-time distinctive voices. His musical talent spans from psychedelic voodoo-rock to classical piano. He started his career in 1968 as part of Sonny and Cher's backing band and continued on to record several albums of his own including Gris-Gris, Gumbo, N'Awlinz: Dis Dat or d'Udda, Anutha Zone and his Grammy Winning Goin' Back To New Orleans (1992). He also received a Grammy for his duet with Rickie Lee Jones of Makin' Whoopee in 1989.
