Curtis Powell
Composer, playwright, actor and musician, Curtis has an MA from Northwestern and became involved in theaters from New York to Arizona before returning to Chicago in 2003. Since then, he has completed three full-length musicals; Fairways (score) produced by Steel Beam Theatre, co-written with Mary Hutchings Reed; Waking Lazarus (book, lyrics an score) concert reading at Endpoint Theatre; and Chronic Malcontents (book, lyrics and score) produced by Endpoint Theatre. Along the way, Curtis has created sound designs for Prologue Theatre’s productions of Tatjana in Colour and Maco Lights, as well as Greentree Production’s Yellowman, and Brightside Theatre’s Run for Your Wife. In his Chicago acting premier, Curtis performed the title role in Dreamlogic Theatre’s Titus Andronicus. He recently became an Artistic Associate of Prologue Theatre and is thrilled to be working with the cast and crew of Saturday Night/Sunday Morning.
