Friends of Steppenwolf Theatre Company from all around the country joined for a spectacular weekend celebrating the Steppenwolf ensemble at the 2nd Annual Steppenwolf Celebrity Golf Classic, March 10-13, Rancho Mirage, California. The funds raised from the weekend will support the theater’s artistic and community programming, ensuring that Steppenwolf remains one of the most important voices in American theater.
Hosted by Steppenwolf co-founder Gary Sinise and Steppenwolf’s National Committee, the weekend kicked off with a Welcome Reception sponsored by The Home Depot. Golf fivesomes, which included a different celebrity each day, played two days of the game at the magnificent Desert Willow and Landmark Golf Clubs while non-golfers enjoyed special events of their own with the ensemble members in the exquisite setting of Palm Springs’ premier resort hotel, The Lodge at Rancho Mirage. Ensemble events highlighted the weekend. Ensemble member Joan Allen hosted an Exclusive Benefit Screening of her hit film The Upside of Anger, followed by a Buffet Supper and Conversation at the hotel. Allen and Steppenwolf co-founder Jeff Perry also hosted an intimate luncheon discussion with InStyle magazine. Sinise was in full swing throughout the weekend, taking his best shot on the greens and keeping guests on the dance floor until well past midnight with live entertainment by his Lt. Dan Band as the tournament concluded with an Awards Dinner and live auction hosted by celebrated Chicago comedian Tom Dreesen.
We extend sincere appreciation to our Golf Classic’s lead sponsors, including The Home Depot; United Airlines; Television Week; JWT Chicago; Raymond Weil; The Northern Trust; J. Christopher Reyes, Reyes Holdings, LLC; IZZE Beverage Company and Grey Goose, and to everyone who so generously contributed to the success of this 2nd Annual Event.
