ABOUT THIS SHOW

The fall of 1814, Kingston upon Thames. As four best friends ready themselves to court this season, Lady Grace Quimby schemes to attend events dressed as a man in order to court other women. With the help of her friends, she dons a disguise and navigates a convoluted web of lies. It is a farcical tale of love, gender, and societal pressure.

About Isabella Van Houzen

Isabella Van Houzen is an actress/writer/director from Holland, MI and a recent graduate from Loyola University Chicago. You may have seen her writing at The Understudy where she self produced a reading of Virtue and Grace, Naked Angel's Tuesdays@9, at the Beverly Arts Center's New Playwrights Festival, and Sapphest for the Violet Surprise Theatre. Of course, as a dear and close friend, you may also have been forced into reading Isabella’s work in her small living room. Isabella also works front of house and is a marketing temp at Steppenwolf.

Virtue and Grace began as a fantasy of what Bridgerton could have been. Then came reading with family members and friends and rewrites. In January Isabella hosted a workshop at Steppenwolf’s Merle Reskin Garage Space, and in February she presented a reading at The Understudy. Fun fact:  this show brings to the stage a cast and crew made up largely of current and former members of the Steppenwolf Front of House team.
