Mia McCullough

Mia is thrilled to be working with Steppenwolf again. Her play Taking Care was produced in the Garage in 2003. Mia’s play’s have also been produced locally at Chicago Dramatists and Stage Left Theatre, and nationally at Cincinnati Shakespeare Festival, Actor’s Express in Atlanta, and InterAct in Philadelphia. For her play Chagrin Falls, Mia was the recipient of the ATCA Osborn Award, a Joseph Jefferson Citation for Best New Work, first prize in the Julie Harris Playwriting Competition, and a Cincinnati Entertainment Award for Best Production. Her play Since Africa, which was commissioned by Cincinnati Shakespeare Festival, was a finalist for the 2005 Susan Smith Blackburn Award. Chagrin Falls has been published by Smith & Kraus in the anthology New Playwrights: Best Plays of 2001. Taking Care was recently published in the Chicago Dramatists anthology New Plays from Chicago. Mia is a resident playwright at Chicago Dramatists, and a member of Stage Left Theatre and The Dramatists Guild. She has taught playwriting at Chicago Dramatists and Northwestern University. She lives just outside Chicago with her husband and son.
