Jasmin Cardenas is an accomplished Colombian-American storyteller, theater director/deviser, actress, writer and educator who leverages the power of play and “teatro” to foster connection and spark societal change. Drawing inspiration from El Teatro Campesino and her Theater of the Oppressed training under Augusto Boal, Jasmin co-founded WorkersTEATRO in Chicago to amplify the narratives of working people. Recognized internationally for her work, Jasmin received the 2020-2022 LAB Fellowship at Georgetown University and was selected by UNESCO and the International Theatre Institute as the 2022 World Theatre Day U.S. Emergent Theater Artist.

Jasmin is the Adapter and Performer in Maybe Something Beautiful, a co-production with Chicago Children’s Theater and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. She also wrote and performed her first solo play, ¿Niña Buena? (Links Hall) and toured to FITSA festival in Puebla, Mexico.
