Robert Breuler

Biography

Robert Breuler won a Joseph Jefferson Award for his acclaimed turn as a Russian negotiator in Steppenwolf's A Walk in the Woods. Bob joined the ensemble in 1987. He's appeared in over forty Steppenwolf productions, making him a well-known favorite among Chicago audiences. Some memorable Steppenwolf Theatre Company productions include , Detroit, Andrei Botvinnik in A Walk In The Woods, Big Daddy in Cat On A Tin Roof, Les Moss in The Infidel, Pa Joad in The Grapes Of Wrath, Father Lux in Our Lady Of 121st Street and The Armenian in Time Of Your Life.

Broadway credits include The Grapes Of Wrath, Carousel, The Song Of Jacob Zulu and Death Of A Salesman with all-time favorite role being The Devil in Stravinski’s L’Histoire du Soldat with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra.
Regional and Chicago credits include performances at Goodman Theatre, Northlight Theatre, PlayMakers Repertory Theatre, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Great Lakes Theater, Dallas Theater Center, American Conservatory Theater, Guthrie Theater, Hartford Stage, Philadelphia Theatre Company, Persephone Theatre of Saskatoon, The National Theatre of London and His Majesty’s Theatre of Western Australia.

Robert starred in the Film Acres Independent Production of The Brother. Film credits include The Crucible, A Piece of Eden, Love and Action in Chicago, Shimmer, Trial By Jury, Painted Heart, Miles From Home, Purple Haze and the forthcoming Lac de Flambeau. Television: Chicago Fire, Prison Break, Early Edition, NYPD Blue, Angel Street, Keeper of the City, Father Clements Story, The Untouchables—The Series, BBC’s Darger and the Detective, and the forthcoming pilot Doubt.

Robert has been a member of Actors’ Equity for 40 years and a proud recipient of a William and Eva Fox Fellowship. Other undertakings include directing and performing in the cabaret show A Little Touch of Coward in the Night, written by and starring his wife Suzanne Petri. The couple’s musical Duo: 1 is 1; 2 is Math by Bill C. Thomas with music by Elizabeth Doyle will also be produced in 2014.
