About This Show
Chicago cabaret vocal-trio, Foiled Again is making their LookOut series debut and getting back to their folk roots this summer after years of delighting Chicago audiences. Foiled Again puts their trademark close-knit harmonies on the music of Joni Mitchell. Featuring fresh arrangements of Mitchell classics like "Woodstock," "Circle Game," "Raised on Robbery" and "Big Yellow Taxi" and many other lesser-known tunes from her extensive and exlectic song catalogue.
DARK CAFE DAYS is the show that helped Foiled Again win the 2003 After Dark Award for Outstanding Cabaret Performance and now they are revisiting their obsession with Joni and updating the show for the Steppenwolf audiences this summer. Foiled Again is comprised of Chicago actors Rob Lindley (Fun Home, Angels in America, Funnyman, Oh Coward! Carousel), Anne Sheridan Smith (Fun Home, 9to5: The Musical, Batboy and Drowning Girls) and their resident vocal-arranger Allison Bazarko Kirk. They will be joined by Award-winning musical director Doug Peck on piano and Gavin Kirk on guitar.
The Sun-Times writes, "If there is a group performing tighter, more intricte harmonies, I haven't heard them. No disrespect to Mitchell, but it was refreshing to hear her work freed from her overshadowing persona. You realize the power doesn't lie within her eccentric personality, but rather in her melodies and her words. – HIGHLY RECCOMMENDED"
Time Out Chicago says "Just wait until you hear this vocal trio harmonize – you won't be disappointed... Give this trio a piano, three microhones and a good songbook and there isn't any tune it can't conquer. DON'T MISS"
Cabaret Hotline said "like the Andrew Sisters... but sexier"
Their albums "Foiled Again: Live" and "Blanket of Winter" are available online at CDbaby.com, iTunes, Spotify and most online outlets.
