Synopsis

A breakthrough theatrical event: three interconnected plays in two programs by a brilliant new American voice. Grand in scope, yet intimate and heartfelt, McCraney’s delightful stories will leave you touched and inspired.

Steppenwolf will present The Brother/Sister Plays in repertory, with In the Red and Brown Water on one evening, in rotation with the two shorter plays on another. The plays can be experienced in any order, although chronologically In Red and Brown Water comes first, The Brothers Size second and Marcus; Or the Secret of Sweet third. The three plays don’t line up in a neat linear way: they reflect on each other, echo, contradict, remind. They're less in a perfect chronology than they are "in conversation" with each other.
