Synopsis

In a series of eloquent vignettes, The House on Mango Street tells the sometimes heartbreaking, deeply joyous story of Esperanza Cordero, a young girl growing up in a Latino Neighborhood of Chicago. Rich with music and images of her youth, Esperanza's coming-of-age story is a celebration of growing up, amidst the harsh realities of the modern world. Sandra Cisneros' award-winning novel, beautifully adapted by director Amy Ludwig, has been acclaimed by students, teachers and parents alike.
