Synopsis
Opened January 24, 1998 Goodbye Stranger is the episodic and slightly surreal story of Glad, a young person who tries to be good even though life in the city can feel so bad. Perpetually smiling and perpetually broke, making friends and often making a fool of himself, Glad wanders in and out of people's lives. As he moves through apartments and bars and out on the streets, the familiar becomes ridiculous and the strange seems normal. Carrie Luft's new play, developed out of Steppenwolf's New Plays Lab, is a behind-the-scenes look at the humorous, humiliating struggle to live between the cracks.Content Advisory
