Synopsis
In its American premiere, Wallace Shawn's The Designated Mourner imagines a future in which the ideals of art and culture are destroyed. Jack, the designated mourner, survives the cultural war which claimed his wife Judy and father-in-law Howard, a celebrated writer. Through a series of monologues, these three characters examine questions of class, art, and the role of the self in society.Content Advisory
