INTERNSHIP, APPRENTICESHIP, AND FELLOWSHIP
Our Professional Leadership Programs offer opportunities for students, graduates, and early-career professionals to experience the inner-workings of a professional theatre from every angle. Each of these programs includes a uniquely hands-on experience coupled with mentorship and professional development.
We are accepting virtual internship applications ONLY for the following departments: Education, Marketing/Publicity and Development. We will not host any other internships for Summer 2021. These internships will last from Monday, June 7 – Friday, August 20, with a limit of 25 hours/week. All interns will receive a $1,500 cost of living stipend and will be eligible to receive up to $1,500 in additional funds as well. Applications are due by Friday, April 23, candidates notified if receiving an interview by mid-May.
Apprenticeships & Fellowships
Very unfortunately, due to the pandemic, we will not be hosting apprentices or fellows for the 2021/22 season. Therefore, we are not currently accepting applications for the Apprenticeship & Fellowship. We hope to open applications for the 2022/23 season in February or March 2022. Thank you for checking back at that time for further information and for your continued interest in Steppenwolf. Be safe and be well.
The Internship is perfect for early-career professionals looking for an introduction to arts administration and production. This program provides direct connections to Steppenwolf staff and an opportunity to get hands on experience within the theatre industry.
The Apprenticeship is a paid training program for early-career arts administrators or theatre production practitioners. Apprentices receive immersive practical learning experiences and opportunities to attend professional development seminars all while working as a part of a team with Steppenwolf's staff.
The Fellowship is a leadership development program for early-career people of color. Fellows will hold an apprenticeship in their department of interest while being given additional paid professional development opportunities both in and out of Steppenwolf Theatre.
