Kate McGarry

Kate McGarry approaches her craft with the soul of a great folk singer and the facility of a highly skilled jazz instrumentalist. She studied with Dr. Horace Boyer and renowned avant-garde saxophonist Archie Shepp. She continued honing her craft in L.A.'s jazz rooms, including Catalina's and the Jazz Bakery where her first recording, Easy To Love, was recorded. In 1999 she relocated to New York and began working on Show Me, her critically acclaimed second album, where she has stayed and has since recorded her new album Mercy Streets. In addition to her solo recordings, McGarry is a member of Brazilian vocalist Luciana Souza's vocal group and MOSS, showcasing original works and improvisations. McGarry is also a member of Eli Yamin's blues education project presented by Lincoln Center reaching out to colleges and schools throughout New York City.
