Previews are early performances of the play before the official opening when the director and designers can still make adjustments. Be a part of the shaping of each production and save money, too.

Regular Run

Regular run performances occur for several weeks after the official opening of the play.

Maybe you've seen a Steppenwolf show or two before but have never joined us a subscriber. When you buy one subscription to any regularly priced series you get a second subscription at half price. That equals savings of up to $172! You and your friend will receive all the benefits of being a subscriber - guaranteed seats to all five plays, free ticket exchanges, special offers at restaurants & retailers - plus other perks specifically for first time subscribers.

You must be a new subscriber and purchase two identical 5-Play subscription packages to be eligible for the discount. (Sorry, this offer does not extend to our 4-play subscriptions.) "No Frills" Saver Series

For just $135 (that's only $27 a play!!) you can become a Steppenwolf subscriber! You'll attend on a Tuesday or Wednesday night with other like-minded, bargain loving folks - we pick the night and give you the best available seats. This popular series has made a mid-week night at the theatre a very special event. Exchanges and courtesy vouchers will be for Tue/Wed nights only.

Student Discount Series

Love world-class theatre but live on a work-study budget? Students of any age may purchase one $115 subscription for selected run Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Sunday evening performances - for as little as $23 a play! Teacher Discount Series

In appreciation of all that you do, we offer a special series for you! For only $115 you can see all five Subscription Series plays with guaranteed seats. This offer is good for any Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Sunday evening performances. Please call Audience Services at 312-335-1650 and mention Teacher Discount Series to subscribe. Proof of current employment is required.

Dinner Theater Series

Join the Dinner Theatre Subscription Series and each time you enjoy a Steppenwolf show, you will experience a delicious 3-course dinner at some of the city's most acclaimed restaurants-all within convenient walking distance of the theatre. We will take care of the reservations & logistics, so you can just show up and enjoy creations of the celebrated chefs from such restaurants as Adobo Grill, BOKA, Landmark, and Vinci. Each evening, with a ticket to the show and a meal(including salad or appetizer, entree, glass of wine or beer and dessert) is a $100 value-and you pay only $69!

Steppenwolf will make a 5:30p.m. dinner reservation at each restaurant, and while the tickets are exchangeable, the dinner is not. No other discounts apply-gratuity not included.

4-Play Packages

Our subscription packages typically include all 5 plays in the season but we also offer a convenient 4-play option for each series. Previews, Regular Run, "No Frills" Saver Series, Wine Tasting, Audio Description, Sign Language Interpretation, Dinner Theatre and Teacher Discount are all custom made to include the final four plays in the subscription. Just in case you miss the first show.

Audio Description & Touch Tours On selected Sunday matinees, Steppenwolf offers an audio-described performance, pre-show touch tour and artistic conversation for patrons who are blind or have low vision. Patrons participating in the audio-described series may also receive the playbill in Braille, large print and audio formats. Discounted subscriptions of $135 are available for patrons who utilize our audio described services.

(new!) Open Captioning One open-captioned performance is scheduled for a selected Sunday matinee during each Subscription production. A service for people who are deaf or hard of hearing, open captioning features a text display of the words and sounds heard during a play. Placed near the stage, the LED display is positioned for optimal viewing by patrons sitting on the House Right side of both our Downstairs and Upstairs Theatres. Controlled by a captioner watching the play from the back of the theatre, the presentation of the text is synced live with the action onstage. Discounted subscriptions of $135 are available for patrons who utilize our open-captioned services.

Sign Language Interpretation A sign language-interpreted performance for patrons who are deaf or hard-of-hearing is scheduled for a selected Sunday evening during each Subscription production. Discounted subscriptions of $135 are available for patrons who utilize our sign language-interpreted services.
