Chicago Public Schools Teacher Immersion Course
Connecting Theater and Your Teaching
This course addresses all subject matters.
Improve student achievement. Learn new approaches to teaching your core curriculum inspired by the theatre arts and the principles and practices of Steppenwolf Theatre Company. Join this creative learning ensemble and learn how to create one with your students. Teachers will also have opportunities to explore the plays and theme of what it is to be an American in Steppenwolf’s 2007-2008 season.
Offered in conjunction with the Chicago Public Schools Office of Language and Cultural Education.
The Program Includes:
- 14 workshops, on Wednesday evenings and weekend afternoons
- 2 classroom visits from the Resident Teaching Artist (for CPS teachers only)
- Discounted student tickets to Steppenwolf for Young Adults productions
- A special event surrounding Steppenwolf’s production of The Crucible on November 3rd, which will include an exclusive program with a member of the production.
Dates:
Saturday workshops meet 1-4pm
Wednesday workshops meet 4:30-6:30 pm
Note: First workshop on September 29th meets 10am - 4pm (lunch provided)
