EDUCATIONSTEPPENWOLF FOR YOUNG ADULTS

The Steppenwolf for Young Adults department brings high-quality theatre to artistically curious young adults across Chicago. Each production resonates with a mature teen audience, in hopes of inspiring a new generation of theatre enthusiasts and practitioners. The department produces two full-scale shows each year, performed during the week for students and opened up to the public during weekend matinees. Past productions have ranged from original work and adaptations, to classics taken directly from the literary cannon. This season, we are proud to present two plays in conversation: The Heart is a Lonely Hunter based on the novel by Carsen McCullers and adapted by Rebecca Gillman and fml: how Carson McCullers saved my life by Sarah Gubbins.
