Things are looking up for recovering alcoholic Jackie and his girlfriend Veronica—until Jackie spots another man's hat in their apartment and embarks on a sublimely incompetent quest for vengeance. Fast-paced and uproarious, Mother is a gleefully foul-mouthed look at modern love and other addictions. Ensemble member Anna D. Shapiro, director of the acclaimed Broadway premiere, returns to direct the Steppenwolf production.
Please note this play contains adult language: an honest, authentic mash-up of poetry and profanity (that’s a lotta fun).
"Funny and unflinching…fierce and affecting."
"Fast, flashy, and tremendously assured… absolutely masterful."
"Brand new way to look at love and addiction…bold, compassionate, highly articulate and deceptive Stephen Adly Guirgis drama."
"It's fearless—go see this play!!"
"Surprisingly heartfelt…fast-moving emotional carousel ride."
"The cast of Motherf**ker prove themselves to be, well, a tough bunch of motherf**kers…certainly worth it."
"@SteppenwolfThtr has a HIT on its hands. Just saw a preview, you should make plans to go see it!"
