Biography
David Singer
David Singer, a songwriter and musician, returns to Steppenwolf, having contributed songs for Steppenwolf’s world premiere of
The Ordinary Yearning of Miriam Buddwing
. David has been a fixture in Chicago music for over a decade, first coming to prominence with three well-received albums as the front man for quasi-legendary Kid Million. He then struck out on his own with 2001's
The Cost of Living
, which brought him widespread international attention. He has since released two more acclaimed records,
Civil Wars
and
The Stars Burn Out
, and toured the US extensively. David has a new band and a brand new record, titled
East of the Fault Line
, scheduled to be released later this summer. He is also one of the organizers of the Intonation Music Festival and composes music for progressive causes and candidates around the U.S., including NRDC, Emily's List, Senator Harry Mitchell (AZ) and Congresswoman Melissa Bean (IL).
