Edward Sobel

Edward Sobel is the Director of New Play Development at Steppenwolf, where his work as dramaturg includes The Pain and the Itch, Lost Land, Pacific, and the world premieres of The Man From Nebraska, Taking Care, Wendall Greene, Purple Heart and The House of Lily. Recent directing credits include The Chosen and A Lesson Before Dying at Steppenwolf; the world premiere of Brett Neveu's American Dead at American Theater Company; and Self-Defense or, death of some salesmen, Be Aggressive and Faulkner's Bicycle for Rivendell Theatre Ensemble. Ed is one of the directors for WBEZ's Stories on Stage. He holds an MFA from Northwestern University.
