I love the experience of going and seeing something live. I like being in a dark and communal place with a bunch of people. I like watching something, then having it not exist as soon as it's over. It only exists in your memory, and in your conscience. Or lack thereof.
The common thing that drew us all together was this idea of throwing something on the stage that was completely wild and cutting edge. We're still about that.
You can blast a television show into every house around the world, but you can't do that with theatre, the audience has to come to you. So when they come to you...how much do you say, ‘yes you belong here’ and that this is a conversation...that has always been important to me, to preserve that opening to preserve that back and forth.
